    A study by Jones38 reported a reduction in phosphate content of 51% in vegetables, 48% in legumes, and 38% in meat after boiling. A phosphate-restricted diet also should correctly identify and limit foods that contain a high amount of phosphate additives, such as packaged meat, processed cheese, soups and sauces, instant puddings, frozen products, biscuits, bakery goods, yogurts, and beverages.39-43 They are used in the food industry to increase shelf life, preserve color, alter texture, and stabilize and enhance flavor.
