Classical text books of Medicine and Cardiology in the 60's used to make a categorical statement that rheumatic pericarditis can lead to calcified pericardium (as in the present case report) but does not lead to constrictive pericarditis.
Since chronic rheumatic heart disease is a rare entity in the developed world, not much is documented in the recent literature.
