Colonic fistulas

Surg Clin North Am. 1996 Oct;76(5):1183-90. doi: 10.1016/s0039-6109(05)70506-5.

Abstract

Colonic fistulas are uncommon. They are frequently external but also occur internally to a number of organs. External fistulas are usually caused by a complication or are the result of a surgical procedure, such as leaking anastomosis or incision and drainage of an abscess resulting from an underlying pathologic condition.
