2010, ChestCitation Excerpt :Although the majority of intrathoracic teratomas arise from within the mediastinum, they can also arise rarely from an intrapulmonary source and abut, but not directly involve, the mediastinum. Intrapulmonary teratoma has been reported in 81 cases.17–51 In the third to sixth gestational week, thymic tissue is derived from the third pharyngeal pouch and the ventral side of the foregut, respectively.
