The case report: Lung injury and renal failure caused by potassium cyanide poisoning BMJ Case Reports 2009 [doi:10.1136/bcr.04.2009.1768] was published online on the 9 December 2009 with the following incorrect sentence:

“Cyanide poisoning should be suspected in cases with significant unexplained metabolic acidosis and rapid development of disturbed consciousness, or cases without cyanoses but with respiratory depression (tachypnoea) and the detailed medical history should be checked.”

The correct sentence should read: “Cyanide poisoning should be suspected in cases with significant unexplained metabolic acidosis and rapid development of disturbed consciousness, or cases without cyanoses but with respiratory depression and the detailed medical history should be checked.” We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
