Defects in interferon-
axis have been shown to be associated with disseminated mycobacterial disease. A case of a previously healthy HIV seronegative child with disseminated extensively drug resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection presenting as splenic abscesses with lymphadenopathy and progressing to disseminated tuberculosis with absent interferon-
and interleukin-12 production is reported here.
